Jacques Jonassaint was the special envoy of the president of Haiti in 1994 and pre-negotiated the Port-au-Prince Accord, signed by former President Jimmy Carter and Emile Jonassaint. He was an independent sponsor in the private equity marketplace involved in leveraged buy-out (LBO) of small and medium-sized businesses worldwide.
Jonassaint has a BSc. Degree in Managerial Accounting from UVU and a Masters Degree in Political Management from The George Washington University School of Political Management, focus on electoral campaigns. Jonassaint has demonstrated his leadership skills throughout the world, received the 20th Century Republican Leader Award, and is a recipient of the Republican Senatorial Medal of Freedom.
Jonassaint was the first black missionary to enter the Provo Missionary Training Center, called in September 1978 to serve in the Florida Fort Lauderdale Spanish-speaking mission after LDS President Spencer W. Kimball “extended the priesthood to all worthy male members.”
He is fluent in French, English, Spanish, and Haitian Creole.
